The paper should include an introduction discussing the purpose and scope of the paper. Additionally, the characteristics of the disorder should be briefly described and the main part of the paper should focus on treatment and management of the disorder, i.e. at least 4 pages on this area. Specifics of treatment, (not just the name or title of treatment) should be included. The focus is on how to treat and manage the problem. If medical include medication intervention . If the intervention involves a level system or reinforcement/token system that should be necessary or some sort of behavior management or parenting/life skills/star chart type program for instance, it should be thoroughly described step-by-step. An example of a poor type of paper would be one in which the student chose autism, described its characteristics and assessment then discussed only medication and a description of a therapy without talking about the specific steps in intervention for selected, specific autistic behaviors. For instance, the student did not discuss what the steps would be for improving social skills or steps for decreasing head-banging. Another example would be oppositional defiant disorder. When reviewing the student’s paper there would be a clear description of what a parent should do when the child demonstrates an oppositional type of behavior, like saying no to requests by a parent or parents. Also, it would be important to discuss how the teacher would interact and provide research supported answers citing the research on what is effective for the specific behaviors. Professional research journals and references appropriate to the selected topic should be utilized. Only three internet sources should be used. Do not use Wikipedia. The researcher should use at least 10 references. Management and treatment processes and techniques should be adequately referenced to defend their evidenced-based effectiveness. This paper should not be done in a case study format. It is a research paper.
