Should there be a legal path to citizenship for the undocumented children of illegal immigrants? Why or why not? If you were charged with proposing a solution to this dilemma, what do you think would be the best and most fair way to address this problem? Be sure to provide a detailed stepby-step proposal. Write an essay in response to ONE of the following three questions:

1. As citizens of the democratic city-state of Athens, why did Cleon and Diodotus disagree about the value and role of public debate and democracy, especially for deciding issues of foreign policy?

2. Using evidence from Suetonius’ Life of Julius Caesar, explain how a Roman citizen became politically influential during the period of the Late Republic (the first century BCE).

3. Using evidence from Josephus’ account of the the situation in Judea in the decades before the outbreak of the Jewish War in 67 AD, explain why segments of the Jewish population rebelled against Roman rule? (Keep in mind that Josephus’ account covers over half a century. Don’t focus excessively on events from a single year, especially if the events took place forty years before the rebellion.)

2. The introduction paragraph must contain an analytical statement (thesis) that answers the topic question and states the argument you are making in the essay.

3. Any subsequent paragraphs (body paragraphs) should begin with an analytical topic sentence.

5. It should make at least seven references to the text. You must provide page citations for these references.  You may use parenthetical references for these citations.  For example, cite in the following manner, (Josephus, 54).

• Provide an introduction that defines both technology and social change and discusses how they are related.
• Discuss the impact of the personal computer, cellular phones, and the internet on society.

Writing Assignment: Conservatism in America

The U.S. conflict in Vietnam lasted throughout three American presidencies. The original goal was to contain communism and keep its principles out of South Vietnam. Initially, U.S. soldiers were sent to Vietnam as military advisors to the South Vietnamese during the Kennedy administration. The conflict escalated during the Johnson administration and more U.S. troops were sent into active battles. It was not until the Nixon administration that U.S. troops were pulled out of Vietnam. Consider Kennedy’s reasons for sending military advisors to Vietnam, Johnson’s reasons for escalating war and Nixon’s reasons for pulling the U.S. out of Vietnam? Each administration had strategic political and military objectives.

Based on the United States government’s political and military objectives, do you think the Vietnam War was considered a success? Did the U.S. and South Vietnam win the war?

In an essay of approximately 500 words, give reasons either for or against the belief that it was a success. Your essay should include reference to the reasons (both military and political) that each president decided to increase or decrease U.S. involvement in the conflict.

Feel free to use a search information to find more opinions about whether or not the U.S. was successful in Vietnam. Use key words such as: United States, win, Vietnam, success. The final opinion must be your own.

When compared to European and Asian immigration, is the Mexican immigrant experience unique? Why or why not?

Minorities have experienced a checkered history in the United States with some eventually becoming part of the mainstream while others continued to exist in the margins of society. Using your knowledge from previous chapters that discussed minority groups, compare the various experiences and acceptance of those groups by 1840. Consider the following minority groups as you respond:

• Irish, German, Scottish
• African-Americans; free blacks and slaves
• American Indians.

Complete a presentation in Prezi, PowerPoint, video, or other presentation, formatted according to CSU-Global’s Guide for Writing and APA Requirements. It should lead the viewer through the information in sequential order with transitions of some type to make a cohesive presentation that includes an introduction, a body and conclusion, references, and a citation page (similar to an APA References page). The presentation must also meet these requirements:

• Each slide must include text or audio narration
