United Parcel Service\’s operations are driven by its information systems technology. Beginning as a local delivery service in 1907, UPS expanded on the West coast initially, reached New York in the 1930s, and went international in the 1970s. Today, UPS delivers over 14 million packages daily to 200 countries and territories. A $1.5 billion technology investment in the 1980s buoyed the growth of UPS. The investment enabled the development of the International Shipments Processing System (ISPS), which is the key to the company\’s overseas operations. The technology infrastructure enables UPS to offer its customers services in addition to the basic shipment of packages. UPS drivers play an important role in the company\’s services by capturing information at the endpoints of each delivery segment. Volume, cultural differences, and hardware readiness all impact the development and continued growth of UPS. Identify the problems that UPS’s information systems need to solve

 At this point, you have had an opportunity to investigate what evidence-based management is and its relevance to decision making. In this discussion, you will pull information from the readings assigned in this unit, analyze it, relate it to the health care field. Imagine you are talking to a co-worker who has no idea what evidence-based management is or how it relates to an organization. Complete the following as though you are talking to that co-worker:

Use Internet resources or the Ashford University Library to identify two competing security products such as antivirus software, firewall, anti-spyware, or any hardware. For each product, describe its capabilities, target business uses, and costs to purchase or license. Compare the two products and recommend one for the business of your choice.Your paper needs to have more than two scholarly sources, in addition to the textbook.

Refer to page 413 Figure 12-1 in your text – The Relationship Between Ethical, Social, and Political Issues in an Information Society. “The introduction of new information technology has a ripple effect, raising new ethical, social, and political issues that must be dealt with on individual, social, and political levels. These issues have five moral dimensions: information rights and obligations, property rights and obligations, system quality, quality of life, and accountability and control.” Give a business example of each.  Writing persuasive documents across cultures can be challenging. Choose a culture other than your own and examine persuasive strategies that you would need to use when communicating with individuals from that culture.
