Economy, NOT A Research it is a Discussion Board.

Birmingham, the group is petitioning for an ordinance to ban the sagging pant fashion that has persisted in recent years.Birmingham wants to gather 3,572 signatures to put his proposed ordinance on the ballot. If approved, anyone caught with saggy pants that reveal an undergarment would be fined between $50 and $100, if they had been previously warned to pull up their pants.Birmingham says the fashion is disrespectful to the public and should be considered ‘indecent exposure’ and a violation of the public decency law.Others agree that a line should be drawn.“I think it’s disrespectful if you to see the underwear,” said Frank White, 62, who supports the proposal. “There’s a lot of young guys who like to take their shirts off because it’s getting hot now and you see the underwear and they got them dropped on their hips. That’s the way they wear them. I understand that’s supposed to be the style but I don’t like the style,” he said. But opponents say the fashion really isn’t hurting anyone.“It ain’t no threat to nobody or nothing. All in all I feel like people should be able to dress like they want to dress but respect their community. If they say pull up your pants then pull up your pants,” said Little Bee Reality, who likes to ‘sag’ and opposes the proposal.Little Bee Reality calls the fashion ‘swag’.“As long as you are not disrespecting the community, being violent with guns or nothing. I feel like you should be able to sag your pants but at the same time there should be a certain way that we handle it,” he said. Those who like to sag say if the proposal does become law, it won’t stop saggy pants from continuing to be popular fashion. Little Bee says he’ll pull up his pants when warned, or in front of a police officer, but then sag them back down when there’s no one nearby to fine him.Birmingham says that’s a start. He wants to at least get young men to know they need to pull up their pants when others are around them. Some supporters concede they may be fighting a losing battle. But ban supporters are frustrated by a sight they believe is becoming too common, and they want to do something to stop it.

1:Good work! A nice simple example that shows how easy it is to use the product rule for exponents. Can you see how working with extremely large or small numbers and using scientific notation would help us to easily apply the product rule? 2:When I said very large numbers I was referring to very large small numbers. Numbers that are way to small for us to count without a computer. I think we don’t use them with things like national debts because there is not a lot of people who are familiar with scientific notation and I think that I’d the reason it is mostly used in science. 3:Shorthand for math is a great way to think of scientific notation. It certainly makes it easier and faster to write and record very large numbers. It is also very helpful when working with sets of very large numbers. Any thoughts from the class on if this makes sense or not? it 242 4:you’re correct there are many devices that we connect to our wireless network, WLANs are meant to make our lives a lot easier. since a wlan can connect our lives to the web it is important to maintain it secure. our bank transactions, homework assignments, work task, and other online activities all can be performed using our wireless devices, if a hackers manages decrypt our data, they will have full access to our personal and professional life. just as wlan can make our lives easier they can make them difficult if the signals are not encrypted and protected. 5:Right. Wireless does not necessarily mean being as advanced as hosting a WiFi network. It simply means being able to do something without the assistance of being wired. As you mentioned, some of the first methods of wireless technology involved the use of remote controls, which work using infrared light. How extreme is it to make technology work without the use of wires? How close are we to having this accomplished? 6:Wireless technology is a necessity in today’s mobile world. Work that was considered impossible in the past is now doable because of technological advancements. We are no longer grounded to a mainframe, such as with dummy terminals. The hardware and software of today make us effective and efficient regardless of where we are located. In essence, we have significant access from our fingertips. What are the security issues faced by organizations while using wireless technologies?

This is a=my final Project on Medical Marijuana

The topic of your project needs to be a contemporary societal problem, such as healthcare reform, immigration reform, privacy rights, euthanasia, First Amendment Rights, stem cell research, capital punishment, corporate prisons, legalizing drugs, ageism, animal rights, cloning, prayer in schools, racial profiling, recycling/conservation, sexism, outsourcing jobs, workplace bullying, etc. The topic must focus on a single aspect, as in “How far do corporations intrude into the private lives of their employers?” or “The social costs of financing the distribution of custom-designed drugs.” You may suggest another topic to use, but the instructor must approve the topic during the Week Two Discussion. The Final Research Project will present research relating the responsibilities of a critical thinker to contemporary society. In this assignment, you will do the following:You must take on the perspective of your major field of study and explain in your paper what that perspective is and how it informs your view of the topic. The topics listed above are far too broad to write about in 10–12 pages (3,300–3,900 words). Instead, you must choose a narrowly defined thesis and approach it from the perspective of your field. If you are an economics major, and you are interested in immigration reform, you should approach a very specific aspect of immigration reform through the lens of economic theory and practice. A specific thesis question would not be, “How does illegal immigration influence the U.S. economy?” One could write thousands of pages on such a topic. Instead, a better question would be, “How do illegal immigrant hotel workers in Chicago impact the economy of Northern Illinois?” You would then want to do the research and determine the positive and negative impacts they have, ultimately trying to conclude how illegal immigration in this area should be approached ethically. It is important that you start your research early in this course. Try to find the most important contemporary questions and theories in your field of study and then align the most important questions with a very specific aspect of the general topics above. For example, if you are a psychology major, you might want to start thinking within the realm of healthcare reform or aspects of mental health and criminality in the prison system. You must present a complete argument, including a major claim with at least five points of evidence, information, or data that will prove the claim. After you have defined the problem and created an argument about how one ought to respond to the issue, you need to explain the ethical outcomes of the position you have taken. This should again be in relation to the field of study in which you are working. There might be different ethical outcomes that result from your analysis. For example, going back to the example issue above, from an economic standpoint, illegal immigrants might contribute positively to the economy of Northern Illinois in a specific number of ways. Thus, an economist who believes that positive impact to the economy is the greatest good would say that one should promote the use of illegal immigrants. However, because these workers are often paid less than others and eliminate jobs that could be done by residents of Chicago, there could be other negative ethical outcomes that would outweigh the positive impacts to the economy. It is your goal to draw out the ethical implications of your thesis and explain the underlying rationale that is the foundation for your claim that one action is better than another. The Final Research Project may be presented as a formal research paper (essay format), a PowerPoint presentation, a video, or a podcast equivalent to a minimum of 10 – 12 pages in APA format (approximately 3,300 – 3,900 typewritten words, excluding title page and reference pages). English 1302 RHETORICAL ANALYSIS ESSAY (1000 words) MLA

Find the thesis.  Write the first paragraph and put the thesis, which is the PERSUASIVE ARGUMENT at the end of the first paragraph.  Be sure to include the full name of the author and the full name of the essay.  A persuasive argument is not a fact.  It must be something the author is trying to persuade the reader to do or think.Write the rest of the essay showing various methods the author uses to convince the reader of that thesis.  Do not find one thing and write every paragraph on it.  Do not repeat yourself.  Look at all the handouts and the video on rhetorical analysis. Do not write a summary of the essay.  Do not discuss the essay topic AT ALL.  If the author is trying to convince the reader that the Iran deal is a bad one, you should not discuss the Iran deal AT ALL.  Not at all, not one word of  your opinion about this issue.  Your only job is to look at how the AUTHOR tried to convince the reader.  Never use “you” in a formal essay, avoid slang and casual chatter about the topic.  Do not discuss the topic at all (did I say that already?)This is not about the topic.  It is about strategies that authors use to convince people what to think or do.Must use quotes from the essay you have chosen, related back to the Works Cited, which will ONLY be the article you have chosen to analyze.  First paragraph must have the full name of the author, full name of the article, and the thesis statement of the article. You must not use first person or express  your opinion about anything in the article.  Do not summarize.  Your job is to tell your reader what the article is trying to persuade the reader to think or do and HOW that author is trying to do it.  Then each paragraph must say how the author is attempting to convince the reader. We already know what the article is about, but what is it trying to convince  you of?A thesis is NEVER a question.  It is a persuasive statement.  It isn’t like “The author is trying to convince the reader that there are five ways to answer the phone.”  That is not a persuasive statement because everyone knows there are probably dozens of ways to answer a phone. So there’s no point in trying to convince anyone.  A thesis statement is an argument, not a statement of fact, information, or a rebuttal of some other question.  It wants to convince the reader of something the reader does not want to believe, so it takes some effort.  You have to decide how that effort is made.At the end, in your conclusion, you should examine how effective the argument is. You can’t know how effective it is because you don’t know the outcome, whether people were or were not convinced. But you can guess if it was PROBABLLY convincing because of its rhetorical strategies, or whether it was not successful because of ineffective strategies that were simply not convincing.

Discussion/LASA1

Cultural differences can have a significant impact on business operations and cause harm when not properly managed. Mergers and acquisitions can create challenges due to cultural expectations on a national and organizational level. Often, managers are expected to integrate their current focus into a larger project without understanding how to do so in a larger context. Communication and coaching are key concepts in ensuring a smooth transition. As the HR manager of Banks Industries, one of the issues you face with regard to the company’s acquisition of a Chinese firm is presented in the following scenario:Review the scenario and your readings and address the following:BANKS Industries is a manufacturing company located in Centervale. A U.S.-based organization, BANKS’s major product line is electronics components. BANKS has just over 200 employees at their main plant in Centervale, but has recently acquired a new subsidiary in China. This acquisition adds close to 100 employees and their expertise in a new line of personal computing devices. BANKS expects these devices to give them a competitive advantage in their market.BANKS started out as a family-owned organization that has a relatively flat organizational structure. After 15 years of being in business, BANKS continues to be family-owned and has acquired several small companies in the U.S. The acquisition of the Chinese company, which has now been renamed BANKS Components, is the first acquisition outside U.S. borders. At this point, the acquisition is official and the company is in the process of taking over the operations of the plant in China. All employees have been retained, although turnover and some expansion are anticipated in the near future. Employees in both locations are feeling uneasy regarding potential changes, and some reorganization is going to be necessary. During the acquisition, some key employees of the Chinese company left the organization out of fear that their positions would be eliminated. This has left some upper management and director-level positions vacant, adding to the challenges that BANKS is currently facing. As the HR manager, you report directly to the owner-president of BANKS Industries. You have a relatively small staff working under you, leaving you to make the majority of the HR recommendations and decisions on your own. You have been charged with identifying some of the challenges and issues in this new endeavor, making recommendations for action, working with employees, and several other tasks related to the acquisition.Consider the challenges of posting U.S. employees to overseas locations. You will develop a 15-20 slide presentation to make recommendations on the HR-related challenges. The PowerPoint presentation should include a title slide as well as a slide with references in APA format. A minimum of five scholarly references should be used, which may include direct reference to relevant laws and research. Be brief and professional on your slides, but use the notes feature to go into more detail regarding the topics. Consider your audience, so be sure that your text and background has enough contrast, that you limit animations and other distractions, and use graphs and tables where appropriate. Address the following in your presentation:

Assignment 2: Positive Psychology and SpiritualitySubstance abuse counseling lends itself nicely to the integration of positive psychology and spirituality. While both of these therapy approaches have been explored for many years, the integration into substance abuse counseling is a relatively new development. As such, many clients may not be aware of the techniques in positive psychology and spirituality that can be of use in their recovery.Juanita has been seeking treatment for her marijuana use from you for a month now. While she has significantly cut back on her substance use, she is having difficulty quitting and remaining abstinent for periods that last longer than a few days. In your counseling sessions, Juanita has mentioned that she feels very badly about herself—she feels guilty about being unable to quit and explains that she doesn’t think she is strong enough to quit altogether. She has also expressed nervousness that her boyfriend would no longer like her if she quit smoking, and she has expressed concern that if he leaves her, she wouldn’t be able to find a new boyfriend because she doesn’t believe she is pretty enough. Juanita is also unsatisfied with her job as a cashier at the local grocery store, but has expressed her opinion that she doesn’t think she is smart enough to get a better job. You know from Juanita’s history, that her mother was very critical of Juanita when she was a child and that her father was absent for most of her childhood. In high school, Juanita excelled at classes in biology and math, but she never attended college. To help Juanita overcome her barriers to marijuana abstinence, write a summary of what the counselor should cover in the next meeting with Juanita. Ensure that you cover the following points:Write a 4–5-page paper in Word format. Use scholarly resources, including the textbook to support your ideas. Apply APA standards to citation of sources.
