You have just been hired as assistant treasurer of Dorchester Stores.  One of your primary responsibilities is to maintain the company’s high credit rating by paying all bills when due and to take advantage of all cash discounts.

Danny Feeney, the former assistant treasurer who has been promoted to treasurer, is training you in your new duties.  He instructs you that you are to continue the practice of preparing all checks “net of discount” and dating the checks the last day of the discount period.  “But,” Danny continues, “We always hold the checks at least 4 days beyond the discount period before mailing them.  That way we get another 4 days of interest on our money.  Most of our creditors need our business and don’t complain.  And, if they scream about our missing the discount period, we blame it on the mail room or the post office.  We’ve only lost one discount out of every hundred we take that way.  I think everybody does it.”

Risk management uses certain documents to track incidents. It will help you to become familiar with the kind of information that goes into these documents. You will create and fill in a quality improvement chart for the high-risk area you selected, Hospitals and long term care.

 

1. Design a chart to show the indicators, their measurements, and the expected and actual performance. Use the template to design your chart. Further, use 5 out of the 10 standards listed. Click here to review and download the template.

3. I want you to search the internet – anywhere you’d like – and find a toy for children that has a sexist/gendered message to it. Look for something that suggests the product is more for girls than boys but that in reality, either a girl or a boy could play with the toy. You could select a print ad, a commercial, or an actual product for sale online – like at Walmart, for example. Walmart is a better place to look for something like this than Target because the Walmart homepage still has the sexist/gendered shopping categories of “Boys’ Toys” and “Girls’ Toys”. Pick a current toy or advertisement, do not pick something vintage – as those are clearly and terribly sexist/gendered. Also, do not post a link to an article about gendered toys – I want you to find a toy on your own.
