What information, if any, must you list on an affidavit to secure a search warrant for Abby and Bobby’s house?

You have been working as a police officer for the Centervale Police Department for two years. You are on your nightly patrol in your marked police vehicle with your partner, Edward, who has been on the force for seven years. You receive a call on the radio to respond to a domestic abuse situation requiring backup. Your partner and you are second to respond to the call. You arrive at the scene, which is in a neighborhood with a bad reputation. Upon arrival, you witness a couple, Abby and Bobby, standing outside their house, yelling obscenities at each other.

The couple refuses to calm down and speak with the officers, Christina and David, who are already on the scene. The girlfriend, Abby, is slurring her speech and seems unaware of the trickle of blood running down the side of her head. The boyfriend, Bobby, has extremely bloodshot eyes and does not appear to have slept in days. Moreover, Bobby’s speech is accelerated, and he’s breathing rapidly as if he has just sprinted from the drugstore down the block. You notice that Bobby’s hands and face have scratches all over them.

Also, the front door is open.

Your partner, Edward, has known this couple as they have been in trouble with the law before. He steps in between Abby and Bobby and begins to gather information from Abby, while you call for an ambulance.

As Edward speaks with the couple, you begin to walk around the yard, observing what you can. You look in through the front door, and while there is only one light on in the house, you observe what appears to be a bong and a baggie of marijuana on the coffee table in the front room of the house. Because Edward is standing with Abby and there are two other officers outside with Bobby, you decide to enter the house to take a closer look.

You discover that there is indeed a bong and a baggie of marijuana on the table. Looking under the couch next to the coffee table, you discover a shotgun as well. You begin to wonder what other illegal items might be in the house, when you hear a yell from outside and run out to discover that Bobby is being handcuffed and put in a police car. Apparently, Bobby tried to use a weapon on Abby in front of Edward and the other officers.

He is quoted as saying, “Just because the cops are here doesn’t mean I won’t finish what I started!” as he reached for his waistband.

As Bobby is being driven away, Abby breaks down into tears and cries out after her boyfriend, “Don’t worry, baby! I’ll come bail you out as soon as I can turn a little profit with the goods!”

You tell your partner what you observed in the house. After the paramedics declare that Abby’s head injury is nothing more than a bad scratch, your partner and you drive Abby down to the police precinct for further questioning, leaving Christina and David at the scene to secure it until more investigation can be done.

What You Need to Do . . .

Utilizing APA guidelines and citing relevant case law and specific details from external sources, present a 4- to 6-page research paper that explains what you need to do next with respect to the evidence left behind at the scene. In addition, consider what you need to do with any other evidence you may discover at the precinct from Abby and Bobby or on their persons. As you consider your next steps, address the following issues:

  • Do you have probable cause to arrest Abby for any crime? Explain.
  • What information, if any, must you list on an affidavit to secure a search warrant for Abby and Bobby’s house?
  • What actions (or inactions) taken by officers Christina and David were relevant with respect to the evidence you discovered on the scene?
  • What is the scope of your warrant?
  • Should you search Abby and Bobby upon their arrival at the precinct? What do you expect to discover on their persons and at the crime scene? How will you obtain evidence that may or may not be found on Abby and Bobby’s person? For instance, they may have drugs in their pockets, or Bobby may have another weapon on his person

Explain how the case exemplifies the federal government’s use of the Commerce Clause to carry out its legislative agenda. Be specific.

Using the Commerce Clause to Carry Out a Legislative Agenda

As methods of travel and shipping have improved, almost any action within a state has ripple effects on interstate commerce. Accordingly, the Commerce Clause has been used to justify many of Congress’ actions since the early 20th century. A legislative agenda, a government’s legislative plans for a session of congress stated at the start of a session of congress, can be realized through various Constitutional provisions. In this assignment, you examine how the Commerce Clause can be used to execute Congress’ legislative agenda.

To prepare for this assignment:

  • Review the interactive media piece, “Interstate Commerce Law.” Consider how even small actions can lead to ripple effects that impact interstate commerce.

  • Use the website, “The Oyez Project,” to locate cases on interstate commerce and the Commerce Clause.

  • Select a case from “The Oyez Project” website to use for this assignment. Think about how this case exemplifies the federal government’s use of the Commerce Clause to carry out its legislative agenda.

Due by Sunday January 31, 2016 a (1-2 page paper)

  • Identify and briefly summarize the case you selected. Be sure to cite the case.

  • Explain how the case exemplifies the federal government’s use of the Commerce Clause to carry out its legislative agenda. Be specific.

Support your work with specific citations from the Learning Resources. You are allowed to draw from additional sources to support your argument, but you must cite using APA standards. All quoted material must be identified, cited, and referenced per APA standards.

Could an Agile methodology be used to build a strip mall in your home town?

To develop a schedule for a project, we will use the concept of a project network, which shows work activities taken from the work breakdown structure and is organized according to the logical flow in time and relationships governing when the work will be performed. By combining this network of work activities with estimates of the time duration for performing each of the activities, we can create a schedule for the project work. In 3 paragraphs provide what types of information can we learn about the project by reviewing the project schedule and all the information used to generate it?

As we have seen, traditional and Agile schedule developments are quite different. Agile project management was originally developed to do software development. 1.Could a traditional process be successfully used to develop a new software program? Why or why not? 2.Could an Agile methodology be used to build a strip mall in your home town? Why or why not?

Please provide the answer in at least 3 paragraphs.

Define leadership and management.

Calculate the quantity using the given values for the independent variables.

1) Questions 1 through 5 are based on the following scenario (adapted from Chapter 5 demand estimation question number 3, p.163)
The maker of a leading brand of low-calorie microwavable food estimated the following demand equation for its product using data from 26 supermarkets around the country for the month of April:
Q = -5,200 – 42P + 20Px + 5.2l + 0.20A + 0.25M
(2.002) (17.5) (6.2) (2.5) (0.09) (0.21)
R2 = 0.55 n = 26 F = 4.88
Assume the following values for the independent variables:
Q = Quantity sold per month
P (in cents) = Price of the product = 500
Px (in cents) = Price of leading competitor’s product = 600
I (in dollars) = Per capita income of the standard metropolitan statistical area (SMSA) in which the supermarket is located = 5,500
A (in dollars) = Monthly advertising expenditure = 10,000
M = Number of microwave ovens sold in the SMSA in which the supermarket is located = 5,000
Calculate the quantity using the given values for the independent variables.
2) Refer to question 1. Calculate the price elasticity of demand. Hint: Use the point elasticity method described on page 72. A numeric example is demonstrated in the second paragraph on that page.
3) Based on the price elasticity of demand, do you think that this firm should cut its price to increase its market share?
No, demand is inelastic so cutting price would reduce revenue.
No, demand is elastic so cutting price would reduce revenue.
Yes, demand is inelastic so cutting price would increase revenue.
**Yes, demand is elastic so cutting price would increase revenue.

4) Using the information in question 1, compute the income elasticity.
5) Based on the price elasticity of income, do you think that this company would be extremely concerned about the impact of a recession on its sales?
Yes, income elasticity is relatively high, so a recession (with lower income) would likely reduce sales.
Yes, income elasticity is relatively low, so a recession (with lower income) would likely reduce sales.
No, income elasticity is relatively high, so a recession would not have a large impact on sales.
No, income elasticity is relatively low, so a recession would not have a large impact on sales.

6) What proportion of the variation in sales is explained by the independent variables in question 1?

7) Office Enterprises (OE) produces a line of metal office file cabinets. The company’s economist, having investigated a large number of past data, has established the following equation of demand for these cabinets:
Q = 10,000 + 60B – 100P + 50C where
Q = Annual number of cabinets sold
B = Index of nonresidential construction
P = Average price per cabinet charged by OE
C = Average price per cabinet charged by OE’s closest competitor
It is expected that next year’s nonresidential construction index will stand at 160, OE’s average price will be $40, and the competitor’s average price will be $35.
Forecast annual sales. Enter your response as a whole number without the dollar sign.
8) What will be the new sales forecast if the competitor lowers its price to $32?

9) What will be the new sales forecast if OE reacts to the decrease mentioned in the previous question by lowering its price to $37? (The competitor’s price will now be $32 and the firm’s own price will be $37.)

10) If the index forecast was wrong, and it turns out to be only 140 next year, what will be OE’s projected sales assuming the original price information of P = $40 and C = $35? Enter your answer as whole numbers.

11) The Ocean Pacific fleet has just decided to use a pole-and-line method of fishing instead of gill netting to catch tuna. The latter method involves the use of miles of nets strung out across the ocean and therefore entraps other sea creatures besides tuna (e.g. porpoises, sea turtles). Concern for endangered species was one reason for this decision, but perhaps more important was the fact that the major tuna canneries in the United States will no longer accept tuna caught by gill netting. Ocean Pacific decided to conduct a series of experiments to determine the amount of tuna that could be caught with different crew sizes. The results of these experiments follow.
Number of Fishermen Daily Tuna Catch (lb)
0 0
1 50
2 110
3 300
4 450
5 590
6 665
7 700
8 725
9 710

At what point (what number of fishermen) does diminishing returns occur?

12) Refer to the previous question. Indicate the number of fishermen at the points that delineate the three stages of production. Enter your answers as whole numbers.
13) Refer to question 11. Suppose the market price of tuna is $3.50/pound. How many fishermen should the company use if the daily wage rate is $100?
14) Refer to question 11. a glut in the market for tuna causes the price to fall to $2.75/pound. At this new price, how many fishermen should the company now use if the daily wage rate remains at $100?
15) Refer to question 11. Suppose the price of tuna rises to $5.00/pound. At this new price, how many fishermen should the company now use if the daily wage rate remains at $100?
16) The owner of a small car rental service is trying to decide on the appropriate numbers of vehicles and mechanics to use in the business for the current level of operations. He recognizes that his choice represents a trade-off between the two resources. His past experience indicates that this trade-off is as follows:
Vehicles Mechanics
100 2.5 (includes part-time)
70 5
50 10
40 15
35 25
32 35

If the annual leasing cost per vehicle is $6000 & the annual salary per mechanic is $25,000. What combination of vehicles & mechanics should he employ?

17) An American company that sells consumer electronics products has manufacturing facilities in Mexico, Taiwan, and Canada. The average hourly wage, output, and annual overhead cost for each site are as follows:
Mexico Taiwan Canada
Hourly Wage Rate $1.50 $3.00 $6.00
Output per Person 10 18 20
Fixed Overhead Cost $150,000 $90,000 $110,000
If we use output per person as a proxy for marginal product, what is output/wage rate for each country?
18) Which location has the highest MP per dollar?
Mexico
Taiwan
Canada
