Description

As part of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) Implementation Team, you will be discussing how the work flow for all departments will change with the implementation of the EHR. The team will also compare all software applications in the health care facility to see if they integrate with the chosen EHR and if the applications will meet the needs of each department and work flow. The team will discuss advantages and disadvantages of the EHR so that they are prepared for discussions with the administrators.

Instructions

The EHR implementation team will soon meet with the administrators and present all of the information collected in proceeding with the EHR implementation. In preparation for this meeting, all team members are collecting information on work flow, software applications, and advantages and disadvantages of the EHR. The implementation team must understand the work flow processes in the EHR and understand the importance of each work flow process in the EHR. The team will need to know all of the facility software applications that will interact with the EHR as well as understand the advantages and disadvantages of the EHR.

  • Choose 1 of the department work flow processes, and put together a thorough 1-paragraph summary to explain to the team the importance of this process and how it works with the EHR. Choose 1 work flow process from the following choices:
    • Appointment scheduling
    • Front desk or check-in
    • Nursing or clinical support
    • Care provider
    • Check-out desk
    • Business office or billing
    • Clinical staff or care provider
  • Discuss and describe 3 facility software applications that integrate with the EHR. Examples of software applications are electronic prescribing, speech recognition, master patient index, encoder, picture archiving and communication, personal health record (PHR), decision support, and more.
  • Prepare a 3-paragraph summary of each application for the implementation team, and discuss any problems that may be encountered during EHR implementation.
  • Describe the impact of 2 advantages and 2 disadvantages of the EHR so that the implementation team can start to prepare for this discussion with the administrators.

What are the potential ethical issues that researchers may face when conducting public health research targeting vulnerable populations?

The Case of Hurricane Katrina

The diversity movement suggests that our differences should not have economic, social, or political consequences and that we should be entitled to the same access to resources and opportunities regardless of our differences. However, the human suffering resulting from Hurricane Katrina and the images of victims have stimulated a debate about differential access to resources.

Using the Internet, research about the differential treatment and access to resources. Based on your research, create a 3- to 4-page report in a Microsoft Word document that includes answers to the following questions:

  • What are the potential ethical issues that researchers may face when conducting public health research targeting vulnerable populations?
  • What are the specific vulnerable groups that are potentially at risk as a result of the disaster? Why?
  • What are the specific strategies that you would propose to ensure equity? Explain.
  • What are the strategies that you would recommend to prevent potential human rights violations? Explain.

Support your responses with examples. INTEXT- CITATION MUST MATCH REFERENCES

Cite any sources in APA format.

What technology gaps/deficiencies/challenges do you see that could benefit from an Enterprise Architecture?

DQ1 – EA

In your place of employment, or any other environment with which you’re familiar , what technology gaps/deficiencies/challenges do you see that could benefit from an Enterprise Architecture? Why? What might be some of the challenges to developing an Enterprise Architecture in this environment?
If you are in a place of employment or other environment that has an Enterprise Architecture, how is this Enterprise Architecture used….or not? How has your environment benefited from the Enterprise Architecture? Has the Enterprise Architecture presented any stumbling blocks in your environment?
DQ2 – What is Enterprise Architecture
Read the article at this link – http://www.information-management.com/news/enterprise-architecture-ERP-BI-SIM-10021528-1.html?pg=1 Discuss the views of the four panelists, compare to the knowledge gained from your other readings. What are key similarities, key differences?

There are terms that you need to be familiar with for this class. Please take the time to understand what is described below, do further research if needed, and ask questions if you have any. The descriptions below are intended to (1) level set and (2) be a starting point if you need more info.

We will break ‘enterprise architecture’ into segments. These segments are interchangeably referred to as ‘domains’, ‘sub-architectures’, and/or ‘perspectives’. These terms are synonymous. The four most common domains/sub-architectures/perspectives, and the ones we will focus on, are (1) business (2) application (3) data (4) technology. (Note: I will typically use the term domain.)
There are many ‘architecture’ terms…and these are not used interchangeably.
Enterprise Architecture – conceptual blueprint that defines the structure and operation of an organization. The blueprint describes the strategic business, information, process, and technology changes necessary to execute corporate objectives/strategies and enable the defined business capabilities.
Reference Architecture – template solution for an architecture for a particular ‘area’. The ‘area’ can be a specific industry and/or a domain within an industry and/or a business capability. Many times Reference Architectures are available on the web.

Solution Architecture – combination of role, process and documentation that is intended to address specific problems and requirements, usually through the design of specific information systems or applications. This is the architecture of the solution, as the name specifies.

Application/Data/Technical/Network/Security/Integration Architecture – these are domain-level architectures. Domain-level architectures can be subsets of both the Reference Architecture and the Solution Architecture.

Let’s give an temporal example to pull this together.
Important Terminology
The Enterprise Architect developed an Enterprise Architecture that defined the business capabilities and the strategic technologies that would be needed to meet the business objectives. One of the strategic technologies on the Enterprise Architecture roadmap is to move to a hybrid (on premise and off premise) cloud environment.
A Reference Architecture was identified. Please see this link for an example of a Reference Architecture
Using the Reference Architecture, a Solution Architecture was developed which identified specific vendors, hardware, and software. Please see this link for an example of a Solution Architecture
Specific details were developed in Technical Architecture, Security Architecture and Network Architecture diagrams

what do you think is the role of the epidemiologist in data collection?

Epidemiology

Epidemiology is the study of how often diseases occur in different people and why they occur. Epidemiology can help us track diseases and find out when an outbreak is occurring or if a disease is decreasing due to a public health interventions.

Given the above information, what do you think is the role of the epidemiologist in data collection? What is John Snow’s (1854) influence on the foundation of modern epidemiology? What are the current 10 leading causes of death for all races/ethnicities? What, according to you, are the five most important human diseases associated with stress? Justify your answers with appropriate research and reasoning and comment on the postings of at least two peers as to whether you agree with their view on the diseases associated with stress.

Homeostasis—The Importance of Being in Balance

When many people think of homeostasis they think of their body being in balance or the flight or flight response. Homeostasis is the maintenance of physiological conditions required to maintain the life of the organism. Cannon (1932) has come up with some theories on homeostasis. What are Cannon’s (1932) theories on homeostasis? What is the World Health Organization’s (WHO’s) definition of engineering methods, also known as engineering controls?

There are five key engineering methods developed to reduce or eliminate the spread of infection and disease. How effective do you think these methods have been? Of these methods, which one has been the most effective and which one the least effective? Why? Justify your answers with appropriate research and reasoning and comment on the postings of at least two peers.

Describe and explain at least 3 differences in for-profit entities and governmental agencies that cause them to have different required accounting procedures.

I need for someone to help me with this immediately, since the person I hired neglected to provide me with the completed document by the due date 1/10/15.  I need this by 5:00 1/11/15 So I can at least receive partial credit.

For your next orientation meeting with your new hire, and to be helpful when other new accountants are hired, prepare a PowerPoint presentation of 5–10 slides with speaker notes that includes the following:

  • Describe and explain at least 3 differences in for-profit entities and governmental agencies that cause them to have different required accounting procedures; include an example of each.
  • At least 1 slide should explain which regulating authority oversees the accounting rules for governmental vs. for-profit entities. What are 3 key things that you would want a mid- or upper-level manager to know about you if you had a chance to make a presentation to him or her?

The Discussion Board (DB) is part of the core of online learning. Classroom discussion in an online environment requires the active participation of students and the instructor to create robust interaction and dialogue. Every student is expected to create an original response to the open-ended DB question as well as engage in dialogue by responding to posts created by others throughout the week. At the end of each unit, DB participation will be assessed based on both level of engagement and the quality of the contribution to the discussion.

At a minimum, each student will be expected to post an original and thoughtful response to the DB question and contribute to the weekly dialogue by responding to at least two other posts from students. The first contribution must be posted before midnight (Central Time) on Wednesday of each week. Two additional responses are required after Wednesday of each week. Students are highly encouraged to engage on the Discussion Board early and often, as that is the primary way the university tracks class attendance and participation.

The purpose of the Discussion Board is to allow students to learn through sharing ideas and experiences as they relate to course content and the DB question. Because it is not possible to engage in two-way dialogue after a conversation has ended, no posts to the DB will be accepted after the end of each unit.

Assignment Details

There are times when you will give ideas extemporaneously, and there are times when you will have time to carefully plan what you will say. As a professional in business, information technology, or criminal justice, your opinions will carry more weight if you are considered to be a knowledge-focused, thinking, and educated representative in the discipline. Here, you will consider ways to blend and merge your overview of your education, your oversight of your discipline, and a need to be able to represent yourself and your topics in the best light.

Respond to the following questions during this unit’s discussion. If you use research to support or explain your answer, be sure to format citations and a reference list according to APA guidelines.

Part A

  • What are 3 key things that you would want a mid- or upper-level manager to know about you if you had a chance to make a presentation to him or her?
  • Why are the 3 items important to you, and why do you think they would be important pieces of information for your managers?
  • If you were going to tell a mid-level manager or senior executive about your own personal history and professional goals in a brief elevator trip, how would you summarize them?
  • How might such an elevator speech be of help to you as you move forward?
  • Be sure to consider the concepts of speaker, message, audience, and situational awareness as part of your discussion.

Part B

  • How do you use and apply the concept of reflective practice in your everyday work and in your career thinking and planning?
  • Discuss ways in which your preparation for presentations can make use of the concept of reflective practice.
  • How could you use reflective practice, your discipline knowledge, and your understanding of the rhetorical triangle to create an effective, career-related online presence on social media?
