Just like Lolita, childhood experiences are major aspects that can lead to become the person you are later in life. Through the narrative of Victor Frankenstein, we learn several major characters and events throughout his childhood that has so far lead up to his creation at Ingolstadt. Alphonse and Caroline were the first to be introduced as they fell in love and got married after Caroline’s father died. Alphonse became a protector over Caroline and gave her full respect and love which lead them to a healthy and happy life, especially when raising Victor, “There was a sense of justice in my father’s upright mind, which rendered it necessary that he should approve highly to love strongly” (pg. 15). Elizabeth Lavenza was later brought up because Caroline came across her as an orphan in Italy and decided to adopt her into their family, “Harmony was the soul of our companionship, and the diversity and contrast that subsisted in our characters drew us nearer together” (pg. 18). Being almost the same age, Caroline strongly urged Victor to marry her someday, but as for their childhood, their friendship was mutually strong. Along with other friendships, Henry Cleval was Victor’s schoolmate, similar to Elizabeth also gave him a happy childhood. In his teenage years, Victor became interested in the sciences and philosophy. He read books by Cornelius Agrippa, Paracelsus, and Albertus Magnus. The spark of his passion occurred on a stormy night when he watched a beam of lightening hit an oak tree “As I stood at the door, on a sudden I beheld a stream of fire issue from an old and beautiful oak, which stood about twenty yards from our house; and as soon as the dazzling light vanished, the oak had disappeared, and nothing remained but a blasted stump” (pg. 22). From there on out, Victor attended college and studied sciences particularly chemistry and the creation of life. Being brought up in such a wealthy family who loved each other and did everything possible for their children not only allowed Victor to pursue his dreams as a scientist, but open a whole new world for him to discover. 

. Apply these theories to your own personality! The study of personality can seem extremely abstract. Each theorist proposes different ways of measuring or documenting individual differences and  processes. The purpose of this short paper is to give you hands-on experience with the concrete elements of various perspectives, so you can see and feel what each theorist is talking about.. You will be introduced to concepts, vocabulary and measures of personality for each perspective we study. Practice using these ideas and words to see how they apply to YOU. Each time you do an assessment, you should note for yourself what the results mean regarding your personality.  The summaries will be useful in describing your personality from the perspective of theorists and trait theorists. NOTE: If you feel this is too personal an assignment, you may choose to write your personality profile on some famous person whose personality traits and functioning are known to the public. Please clear your choice with the instructor if you choose this alternate assignment.. In 4 to 5 pages, you will apply three different theories. You will only be able to cover selective elements of what you have learned about personality, so pick a few ideas to focus on from each of three perspectives. Topics you may choose to address in the papers are found throughout the syllabus and in each chapter of the text. In the end, you should describe your subject (yourself) through the eyes of at least three  theories (theories covered in Chapters 1 through 6) for this assignment.Use whichever theories seem applicable, pertinent, or appropriate within the broad school of thought. Review the terminology and “Personal Experiences” sections at the end of each chapter to identify some of the concepts you may apply to your own personality. Some examples are given below.. please read the following article, located here: Reparations” In this now famous and celebrated article, Ta-Nahisi Coats makes it apparent that racism is not simply a personal matter, but has in America a systematic and institutionalized from and effect. In other words, there is what we can refer to as “systematic racism”—a racism built into American economics and politics that still has negative effects on Black and Immigrant communities. This is seen most clearly if one studies the concentration of poor ethnic groups into certain communities, the underfunding of intercity schools, the war on drugs (which has largely targeted poor black communities) police brutality, and most significantly, the 1994 crime bill and the three strikes law which strengthened and privatized the prison industrial complex. (For more on this, and to see how are these things work together systematically, I encourage you to look into Michele Alexander’s ). Systematic racism, then, means that racist policies and practices still exist even if certain individuals instilling those policies or working within these systems are not racist themselves. When we think we are not a part of racist practices because we ourselves are not racist, it becomes easy to judge and condemn certain practices of oppressed communities. In other words, it is precisely when we think that we have moved ‘beyond race’ that racism becomes the most brutal, for it allows people—privileged white males especially—to imagine that we have somehow extracted ourselves or are no longer implicated in the sins of the past, and the present. For instance, I am still reaping the benefits of my Grandfathers life—after the war, he bought a home with the GI bill, got a good Union job, was able to buy a house in a good neighborhood with good schools—all things from which Black people were systematically excluded from. You and your partner are a two-person patrol in a rural district of Kansas for a county sheriff’s office. Your area of responsibility is right in the middle of “Tornado Alley.” Two weeks ago, a category 4 tornado touched down at the north end of a town in your jurisdiction and hit a day care. Twenty-two children were in the day care with five care providers. Most of the children were huddled with four of the providers at one end of the structure, where there was little damage. Five of the children, who took shelter with one of the care providers in the other end of the building, were pulled out of the building by the tornado. Four of the children and the caretaker that had been with them were found on a nearby street, all dead from blunt trauma. The fifth child has not been found. The ages of the children are 3–5 years old. Your partner is a young man with a wife of five years. They have two children, ages 3 and 4. When the children’s bodies were found, he started to cry. He did his job the entire time with tears in his eyes. You and your partner searched for almost 36 hours without sleep for the missing child, to no avail. Since this incident, your partner has all but stopped speaking. He misses radio calls and is no longer the observant partner that you had prior to the incident with the tornado strike. You thought it would be just a day or two until he recovered, but he has not rebounded, and it is going on the third week. You have concern for his and your safety as well as the safety of the public.You spoke to him about it, and he told you to mind your own business. The sergeant came to you and asked about your partner because he noticed the symptoms. The sergeant related that he had spoken to the watch commander and was instructed to have you prepare a report of observations, an assessment of the problem, and recommendations for getting the problem solved.In a report of 3–5 pages to the watch commander of the sheriff’s department patrol bureau, explain your concerns about the behavior of your partner.
