How do you react when one of your favorite songs is used in a commercial?

Question 1:
Some die-hard fans were not pleased when the Rolling Stones sold the tune “Start Me Up” for about $4 million to Microsoft that wanted the classic song to promote its Windows 05 launch. The Beach Boys sold “Good Vibrations” to Cad bury Schweppes for its Sunkist soft drink, Stepparent offered its “Born to be Wild” to promote the Mercury Cougar and Bob Dylan sold “The Times They Are A-Chan gin’” to Coopers & Ly brand (now Price Water house Coopers). Other rock legends have refused to play the commercial game, including Bruce Springsteen, the Grateful Dead, Led Zeppelin, Fleet wood Mac, R.E.M., and U2. According to U2’s manager, it is undignified to put that creative effort and hard work to the disposal of a soft drink or beer or car.
What is your opinion on this issue? How do you react when one of your favorite songs is used in a commercial? Is this use of nostalgia an effective way to market a product? Why or why not?
Question 2:
Provide examples of products and the promotions used for each of the principles of:

Compare and contrast the various models/ideas developed in this course and how they relate to the issue of the impact of new technologies.

Elaboration on the compare contrast paper.

Compare and contrast the various models/ideas developed in this course and how they relate to the issue of the impact of new technologies. Use ALL the required readings, class discussion, and—the YouTube videos as the basis of your discussion.

(This paper is centered around the models discussed and presented in class and the readings. The paper should focus on using the theoretical frames like Christensen and/or Hamel or Carr, etc. to see how well they help to explain the rise/fall/current situation of a particular technology. For example use both the Christensen and Hamel model s to talk about Microsoft. Use ALL the readings used in this course so far to help frame your argument. Do the models reasonably explain i.e. Microsoft’s rise to its current position? Do the models help predict what is likely to happen to i.e. Microsoft? Is one model better than the other? Why? You may or may not use an example to compare and contrast the theories.)

please use these readings and videos as a resources.
