Your assignment is to discuss the ethical implications of the United States Supreme Court case of Burwell v. Your paper is required to be 3 ½ – 5 typed pages, with a one inch margin on each side and a one inch margin on top and a one inch margin on the bottom, double spaced, not counting cover page or reference page(s). Please ensure that your name is on the cover page. You are required to use Times New Roman 12 size font, APA format. Grading will be based on your support of your answer and your critical thought. When presented with a hypothetical situation you should build arguments in favor of all options in the scenario, but refrain from making a decision about an action. If you make a decision before you do the reasoning, it is not reasoning, it is rationalizing. In addition, when you rationalize you can make almost any choice seem defensible, even an incorrect or wrong choice.

 

Ethical decision-making is a process of examination and analysis, of weighting all the information impartially, this is problem solving. With every ethical decision, there is a cost/benefit evaluation/analysis, weighing the duties/responsibilities against consequences. Duties include rules, laws/statutes, standards of your profession, and your own personal code of conduct. Consequences are the potential cost of upholding your duty or not upholding your duty. We all need to be aware of how we make ethical decisions using the cost/benefit analysis just stated. We all need to think about making decisions in advance, to be thoughtful, not reactive, when it comes to ethical decisions or choices. When you are in an ethical situation you will not be given time to think about a decision(s) (in most cases it will be a high-pressure, time constrained situation).

 

This paper is to be solely your own work,[1] however we will be having a discussion of ethics, specifically about the situation in the article you were asked to read (Vinson), participation in the discussion will affect your grade for the paper and the course. Feel free to do research. However, make sure that you cite your sources in your paper (to avoid plagiarism). Since you have to support your code, and you will be comparing your code to another’s code you will be completing research. Be concise in your answer as you are limited in the length of your paper.

RESEARCH ESSAY QUESTION 

Push and pull factors in Syrian migration.

 

Question

Syria has been embroiled in a civil war since 2011.  Since the beginning of that war, “more than two million” refugees have fled their homes and many migrants have left  the country (Yardley and Pianigiani 2013; Semple 2014).  While many of the people migrate to neighboring countries such as Turkey and Lebanon, others make their way to Europe or the United States, both legally and  illegally(Stevis 2014).  The war and migration have even had some negative impacts on education in Syria (UNICEF 2013).

 

Provide details about the migration of people from Syria since the beginning of its civil war in 2011, including a discussion of the push and pull factors in migration as well as the destinations of the migrants. 

 

To answer this question thoroughly, you may want to consider the following questions. Why are people leaving Syria? How many people have left?  What percentage of Syrians have left their homes?  What are the characteristics of those who are migrating to various countries?   What are they doing in their new locations?  What effects are being felt both in Syria and in the destinations of these migrants?

 

Sources and Strategies

Choose a variety of sources. First, use the library and/or the internet databases to learn more about this subject. Because this is a current event, please look for up-to-date articles in reputable popular media (for example, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Time, Newsweek, BBC, etc.). As well, look for expert analysis and historical background by scholars, participants and journalists. Be sure that your search for expert analysis and opinions includes voices from across the political spectrum, and if possible, from outside the United States as well as inside. I’ve given you a start with four sources, shown below. Wikipedia is NOT an acceptable source. Nor is any other encyclopedia.

 

Formatting Requirements

Length: The body of your research essay should be at least 1000 words (use “Word Count” to make sure you meet minimum length of 1000 words). Use Times New Roman font (12 point), with 1 inch margins all around. Begin your response at the top of the page. Do NOT use a title page. Please include your name in the “header.” No other identifying information is needed. Please number your pages. Please send a digital copy as an e-mail attachment. SAVE A COPY FOR YOURSELF.

You may use these sources, but you are not required to do so. In any case, be sure that you find enough high-quality sources to be able to answer the question clearly, thoroughly, and with sufficient detail. If you choose to use these sources, they’ll give you a pretty good start. There are plenty of good sources on this subject and they’re easy to find!  If you need additional help finding sources, talk to a librarian.

The readings for this module emphasized that although whole families often made the long and arduous journey from South to North together, the prospects that awaited them on the other side often differed greatly between individual family members. For this assignment, reflect on these differences, considering how the family unit was forced to change and adapt to meet the challenges unique to life in America.

Using the module readings, Argosy University online library resources, and the Internet, research the early twentieth century experiences of the Mexican immigrants. Then, respond to the following:

• Examine how the roles of men, women, and children changed because of this migration. What new demands emerged for each group, and how did they seek to meet these new challenges while still maintaining the overall structure of the family. Be as specific as possible, referring wherever possible to examples from the textbook for support.
• How did these changes in the traditional roles impact assimilation? Were men, women, or children more likely to assimilate given these newfound roles and why?

Write a 2–3-page paper in the Word format. Apply APA standards to citation of sources.

In the future you may be asked to write a marketing plan. For the final project you are to provide what the marketing plan is and research the different components of the marketing plan. You will also provide how the marketing plan is helpful to the organization. The final project in qualitative and you are not required to provide any quantitative data.

Specific information on the marketing plan is in chapter 16 of our e-book.

Figure 16.2 gives us an example of the Marketing Plan Outline.
