1. While reading about any of the non-Western traditions, identify at least three traditions that you mentally compared to some theory in Western philosophy? How are they similar?
2. Identify which features of these two traditions you saw as non-comparable. How are the two traditions different? If you had grown up in the non-Western culture, do you think you would prefer these two traditions over the ones to which you have been enculturated in our Western society? Why or why not?
3. When you consider that Asian philosophy predates Western philosophy and religion, why do you think that it was not more influential on Western thinking?
4. How has noting and writing about the comparisons change your opinion concerning the non-Western traditions? If your opinion has not changed, explain why you think it has not changed.

Using your knowledge from previous chapters that discussed economic groups, compare the various experiences and acceptance of those groups by 1840.

Include groups that support/defend your thesis. Complete a presentation in Prezi, PowerPoint, video, or other presentation, formatted according to according to CSU-Global’s Guide for Writing and APA Requirements. It should lead the viewer through the information in sequential order with transitions of some type to make a cohesive presentation that includes an introduction, a body and conclusion, references, and a citation page (similar to an APA References page). The presentation must also meet these requirements:

• At least six slides
• Each slide must include text or audio narration
• Each slide must include at least one image
• Include a three-page transcript to accompany the presentation. This should be a separate Word document that does not need to be formatted according to CSU-Global APA requirements. It should, however, indicate which part of the presentation it is aligned to. Label slide or frame numbers in the transcript only (to match the presentation).
• Information must be thoroughly covered in the submitted document, without requiring supplements; all information must be conveyed clearly and completely, without reliance on a formal presentation or speech accompanying the slides for clarity.

Organizations have many levels; the larger the organization, the more levels it will have and the more managers it will have. Strong managerial/leadership skills are imperative and may include technical abilities, conceptual and decision making abilities, interpersonal/communication abilities and/or a combination of all of these abilities. The ability to influence other people in organizations is central to leadership and managerial “power” can “influence the ability to get things done or accomplish one’s goals despite resistance from others.”

Use the Williams and Miller (2002) journal article, and two other articles that you have found which directly relate to power and persuasion in terms of leadership/management to complete this paper. You will need to:
• Identify the roles generally held by top-level (strategic planning), middle-level (tactical planning), and frontline-level (operational planning) managers, and the roles held by managers that may have broad responsibilities in more than one level of management.
• Identify and discuss how strategic, tactical, and operational planning compliments one another.
• Discuss how using power is essential to being an effective leader/manager in all levels of an organization.
• How does the decision making style on the part of an executive affect the manager and what is the role of persuasion in being an effective manager/leader?
• Teams are identified as the structural building blocks of the organization’s foundation. Identify and discuss how power and persuasion might affect teams and team building.

Anne is 10 years old and lives in a major metropolitan U.S. city and is currently in the 4th grade. Today, during gym class, Anne’s teacher notices several large bruises on all of Anne’s arms and legs and that her clothing is torn and dirty. When the teacher questions Anne about how she got the bruises, Anne replies “I fell on the playground.” The teacher reports the bruising to the school principal. The teacher and principal request Anne’s mother attend a conference after school.

During the conference, Anne’s mother is difficult to communicate with. She appears to be intoxicated, but denies having had anything to drink. She is also very defensive, states that Anne is a clumsy, lazy child and that Anne lies to get attention. The mother denies that anyone has physically hurt Anne. During the conference, Anne sits next to her mother but does not make eye contact with anyone in the room, nor does she speak. When questioned as to why Anne’s father could not attend the conference, Anne’s mother replies that he was too tired because he works two jobs and has to sleep during the day. Anne and her mother leave the conference and Anne is not in school the next day.

ASSIGNMENT

The goal of Juvenile Court is to balance the best interests of the child with the claim of parental rights. Parents have a right to direct the upbringing of their children, including the right to exclude others from that function. They also have procedural rights to contest custody, visitation, and adoption. But the assertion of any of these rights may conflict with the child’s best interests.

When a person becomes sick, he or she may demonstrate a variety of behaviors. Some people like to be left alone while others may seek assistance. Some people will act well even when they are sick. They may even feel guilty for not being able to do their work or take responsibilities.

You switch from “summary” guidelines at that point and start using “evaluation” guidelines in the final memo/email heading, EVALUATION.

In short: THESIS/MAIN POINTS/CONCLUSIONS sections of your memo/email refer to the author’s argument, while you are speaking from your own experience, using first-person voice if you wish, in the EVALUATION section.
