To achieve each outcome a student must demonstrate the ability to:
1.Provide a 2500 word essay to critically evaluate theories and strategies related to change management. Demonstrating an understanding of the need for change within the management and delivery of health and social care for the 21st century.

TASK DESCRIPTION:
Students will provide a 2500 word essay -/+ 10%.

1.Define change and factors which influencethe need for and value of change with reference to health and social care delivery.
2.Critically evaluate theories and strategies related to change management and their influence upon health and social care delivery.
3.Demonstrate an understanding of the difficulties and limitations of achieving a successful outcome for all service users as a result of changes made within health and social delivery.

4.Critically evaluate the importance of the effective management of change within health and social care delivery within the 21st century.

5.Present as a full and detailed response which is clear, coherent and well structured. Use of appropriate syntax and a sense of style. Demonstrate evidence of a thorough understanding of key concepts related to the topic. Correct and appropriate referencing and a bibliography are required. Include word count. Demonstrate wide reading of academically sound sources.

Aims of Module:

To explore the nature of change, organisational effectiveness and the role of change management.

To analyse styles, techniques and methods of managing change in Health and Social Care

To investigate implementation strategies, managing transition, reviewing and sustaining change.

Learning Outcomes:
Upon the successful completion of this module, the student should be able to demonstrate the ability to:

Critically review management strategy theories in relation to change for modern health care organisations, highlighting the difficulties and limitations in achieving a satisfactory outcome for all service users.
Provide a critical reflection of organisational effectiveness and the role of change management. To include an examination of management tools and beliefs about change agency, which can affect the managers ability to successfully manage change.

Change management and Organisational Effectiveness.
Processes and models of change
The need for change

Managing people and issues in turbulent times
Motivating others to change and managing transition
Shaping and implementing strategies of change
Managing , reviewing and sustaining change.

Assessment Component 1 50%

Outcome 1 (approximately 2500 words).
Essay
The students will provide a critical evaluation and analysis identifying change theory strategies. The difficulties and limitations of change will be explored.
