Domestic Surveillance Equals Security for All
The National Security Agency (NSA) has been collecting ponderous amounts of data on citizens and permanent residents of the United States of America since the 9/11 terrorist attack (Sinha, G.A., 3013), although surveillance is believed to have been used before the horrific terrorist attack on September 11, 2001 it is not a public record. Domestic surveillance is predominantly used to prevent future terrorist attacks and provide security for everyone in the United States. Domestic surveillance is an act of utilitarianism; attempting to find a solution to keep everyone safe.
The mission of the Domestic Surveillance Directorate is simple: Collect, process, and store U.S. citizen data for the good of the Nation. We cope with the overload of information in our environment and turn that overload to our strategic advantage. We provide the ability for ubiquitous, secure collaboration both within our agency and through its interactions with various partners. We penetrate into the “hard” targets that threaten our nation wherever, whenever, or whomever they may be(nsa.gov1.info/).
Domestic surveillance was first revealed in the New York Times in 2005, accusing President Bush of collecting illegal information on US citizens, information included phone calls, emails and surveillance.
