This paper must be written at a high school senior level. In order to write these explications you must be knolegeable over the book Into The Wild, by Jon Krakauer. Examine and evaluate U.S. foreign policy from 1914-1918 during World War I , then examine the reasons for U.S. involvement in the war. Analyze the economic and political aftermath of the U.S. massive mobilization for war, discussing the following areas influenced by events: domestic, foreign, and political (U.S. and its Allies). In connection to US wartime policy, discuss in this section of your paper the aftermath of the Versailles Treaty and evaluate the effectiveness of Wilson’s Fourteen Points. Consider all economic, political, and social factors while constructing your argument.

Students will write a four-page essay using Peter Charles Hoffer’s For Ourselves and our Posterity: The Preamble to the Federal Constitution in American History explaining the significance or insignificance of the preamble of the Constitution and how its place in the American Constitutional life changed over time (15% of final grade). This assignment will allow the instructor to assess the writing and analytical abilities of the students early in the semester.
