Assignment 2: Required Assignment—Literature Review

For this assignment, you will conduct a literature review of the four-frame model discussed in this course. To complete this assignment, you will choose three peer-reviewed articles from the required reading section of this course and four from the University online library. You will analyze and synthesize the materials to compose a 5–7-page paper of your analysis.

This literature review will be the basis of your LASA assignment in this course during Module 7. Before you begin, review the directions of the LASA assignment to familiarize yourself with its requirements.

The purpose of this literature review is for you to practice:

• Critically reading and understanding the articles and how to tie the concepts together
• Synthesizing the various concepts and results of the review
• Writing a collective analysis of the articles that will help you address the topic of the final assignment

Directions:

1. Choose a minimum of three articles from the required reading list provided in the course and four from the       University online library databases. Your selected articles should discuss some aspects of the four-frame model discussed in the course. Ensure that your selected articles reflect a blend of research that has contributed to generation of applicable theories as well as a critique and affirmation of the specific theories.
2. Develop an introduction on the background of the topic, the four-frame model, and the purpose of the literature review.
3. Analyze the seven articles and describe the key themes that emerge across the seven selected articles.
4. Synthesize the material and summarize the patterns of similarities and differences regarding how each of the authors has presented each theme.
5. Based on your analysis from the seven selected articles, conclude by explaining the importance of applying the four-frame model and its impact on successful management and leadership.

Remember, a literature review is not simply a summary of the articles; it is a synthesis of the many ideas and concepts presented in the various articles.

You can use the following resources to complete your literature review:

• APA Quick Reference Sheet: Refer to this resource for help with APA Style regarding in-text citations, reference entries, and paper formatting.
• Review of the Literature: Apply the concepts in this document when writing your review of the literature.

Write a 5–7-page paper in Word format. Utilize at least seven scholarly sources in your research. Your paper should be written in a clear, concise, and organized manner; demonstrate ethical scholarship in accurate representation and attribution of sources; and display accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

Apply APA standards to citation of sources. Use the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M5_A2.doc. For example, if your name is John Smith, your document will be named SmithJ_M5_A2.doc.

Grading Criteria

A paper review is a short essay (3-4)  single space 4pages reporting what you have learned from reading a research paper. Writing reviews for the papers you have read is a great way to sharpen your paper reading skills such a review is typically structured in three sections:

1. Summary

Give a brief summary of the work in your own words. This section demonstrates your understanding of the paper, and as such it should answer the following question:

• What is the research problem the paper attempts to address?
• What are the claimed contributions of the paper?
• How do the authors substantiate their claims?
• What are the conclusions?
• It is imperative that you use your own word to summarize the paper .another way to think of it is that you are writing an alternative, elaborate abstract for the paper.

2. Evaluation

Evaluate the work by answering the following question:

• Is the research problem significant?
• Are the contributions significant?
• Are the claims valid?

Learn to be fair: point out the strengths and weaknesses of the work. if you are reading that has been published for a while , make sure you are reading the paper in the right historical context : what seems to be obvious now might have been ground- breaking then.

3. Synthesis:

Generate any interesting thoughts you have on the work by consulting the following questions:

• What is the crux of the research problem?
• What are some alternative approaches to address the research problem?
• What is a better way to substantiate the claim of the authors?
• What is a good argument against the case made by the authors?
• How can the research results be improved?
• Can the research results be applied to another context?
• What are the open problems raised by this work?
• Bottom-line can we do better than the authors?

How did federal legislation support the establishment of unions and union rights? If such legislation had not been passed, do you think that labor organizations would have developed? Would they have succeeded in establishing themselves?

Present your views in approximately 250 words in your initial discussion post.  Respond to at least two of your peers’ posts.  Utilize the course text, weekly lecture, and at least one other scholarly source. Remember to properly cite your sources.

Discussion 2:

How have the NLRA rules about contact with employees failed to keep up with technology?

Locate an article specifically related to e-business and intellectual property.

Write a 350- to 700-word review of the article. Your review should assess the different types of and legal protections for intellectual property. Analyze the legal issues of e-business to include intellectual property, privacy, ethics, and security. Include an introduction and conclusion.

Write a 750-1,000 word paper analyzing Woterstorff’s reflctions in Lament For a Son. In addition, address Kubler-Ross’ five stages of grief, as they are expressed throughout Lament for a Son, and respond to the following questions:

1. How does Wolterstorff find joy after his loss?
2. What is the meaning and significance of death in light of the Christian narrative?
3. How does the hope of the resurrection play a role in comforting Wolterstorff?

• Identify a commonality or theme between the works (this could be a similar medium, subject matter, art period/movement, color or other formal element, etc.).
• THREE WORKS: 90 points (30 points per work-complete these steps for EACH work you include in your paper):
• Identify artist, title (in italics!), date of work and medium.
• Describe the content and/or subject matter (describe what you see when you look at the work).

  ( For example: ” Agnolo Bronzino’s Eleanor of Toledo from 1544 is an oil on wood portrait of a mother seated with her young son standing on her right side. The mother is wearing an elaborate dress with black and gold details. The child has blond hair and is wearing a dark blue jacket and is smiling slightly.)

• Identify a style or movement the work is associated with;  use your Preble’s textbook to place the work in its style category. Explain how it fits into this particular art movement.

  ( For example: ” Eleanor of Toledo was completed during the beginning of the Mannerist art movement, which took place in Italy beginning in the 1520s. This painting is characteristically Mannerist because the figures in the painting have exaggerated and elongated proportions-especially fingers-and are painted with rich colors used to imply texture.”)

• Identify 2-3 formal elements (define each formal element using your textbook; identify each formal element in the art work).

  ( For example: “The dress depicted in Bronzino’s Eleanor of Toledo demonstrates the artist’s use of texture. Texture is the perceived surface quality of an object. In the painting the fabric of the mother’s dress appears to be silk with velvet details and shiny pearl and gold beads…”)

• Conclusion: 15 points
• Give your personal reaction to the three works you chose (what you liked/did not like).
• Describe how this assignment expanded your appreciation of art.
