Assignment 2: Required Assignment—Literature Review

For this assignment, you will conduct a literature review of the four-frame model discussed in this course. To complete this assignment, you will choose three peer-reviewed articles from the required reading section of this course and four from the University online library. You will analyze and synthesize the materials to compose a 5–7-page paper of your analysis.

This literature review will be the basis of your LASA assignment in this course during Module 7. Before you begin, review the directions of the LASA assignment to familiarize yourself with its requirements.

The purpose of this literature review is for you to practice:

  • Critically reading and understanding the articles and how to tie the concepts together
  • Synthesizing the various concepts and results of the review
  • Writing a collective analysis of the articles that will help you address the topic of the final assignment

Directions:

  1. Choose a minimum of three articles from the required reading list provided in the course and four from the       University online library databases. Your selected articles should discuss some aspects of the four-frame model discussed in the course. Ensure that your selected articles reflect a blend of research that has contributed to generation of applicable theories as well as a critique and affirmation of the specific theories.
  2. Develop an introduction on the background of the topic, the four-frame model, and the purpose of the literature review.
  3. Analyze the seven articles and describe the key themes that emerge across the seven selected articles.
  4. Synthesize the material and summarize the patterns of similarities and differences regarding how each of the authors has presented each theme.
  5. Based on your analysis from the seven selected articles, conclude by explaining the importance of applying the four-frame model and its impact on successful management and leadership.

Remember, a literature review is not simply a summary of the articles; it is a synthesis of the many ideas and concepts presented in the various articles.

You can use the following resources to complete your literature review:

Write a 5–7-page paper in Word format. Utilize at least seven scholarly sources in your research. Your paper should be written in a clear, concise, and organized manner; demonstrate ethical scholarship in accurate representation and attribution of sources; and display accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

Apply APA standards to citation of sources. Use the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M5_A2.doc. For example, if your name is John Smith, your document will be named SmithJ_M5_A2.doc.

What is the research problem the paper attempts to address?

Paper review about the attchment file (we have to read and wirte from the attachment )

A paper review is a short essay (3-4)  single space 4pages reporting what you have learned from reading a research paper. Writing reviews for the papers you have read is a great way to sharpen your paper reading skills such a review is typically structured in three sections:

  1. Summary

Give a brief summary of the work in your own words. This section demonstrates your understanding of the paper, and as such it should answer the following question:

  • What is the research problem the paper attempts to address?
  • What are the claimed contributions of the paper?
  • How do the authors substantiate their claims?
  • What are the conclusions?
  • It is imperative that you use your own word to summarize the paper .another way to think of it is that you are writing an alternative, elaborate abstract for the paper.
  1. Evaluation

Evaluate the work by answering the following question:

  • Is the research problem significant?
  • Are the contributions significant?
  • Are the claims valid?

Learn to be fair: point out the strengths and weaknesses of the work. if you are reading that has been published for a while , make sure you are reading the paper in the right historical context : what seems to be obvious now might have been ground- breaking then.

  1. Synthesis:

Generate any interesting thoughts you have on the work by consulting the following questions:

  • What is the crux of the research problem?
  • What are some alternative approaches to address the research problem?
  • What is a better way to substantiate the claim of the authors?
  • What is a good argument against the case made by the authors?
  • How can the research results be improved?
  • Can the research results be applied to another context?
  • What are the open problems raised by this work?
  • Bottom-line can we do better than the authors?

How would you describe or define organized crime?

Write a 700- to 1,050-word paper, describing your personal perception of organized crime upon entering this course. Identify any assumptions on which your perception is based, and answer the following questions:

  • How would you describe or define organized crime?
  • How does your perception compare to the definitions in the readings?
  • What characteristics do you think are associated with organized criminal behavior?

What would be the predicted score for a person scoring 6 on X?

  1. The formula for a regression equation is Y’ = 2X + 9.

  1. What would be the predicted score for a person scoring 6 on X?

  1. If someone’s predicted score was 14, what was this person’s score on X?

  1. 6. For the X,Y data below, compute:

  1. r and determine if it is significantly different from zero.

  1. the slope of the regression line and test if it differs significantly from zero.

  1. At a school pep rally, a group of sophomore students organized a free raffle for prizes. They claim that they put the names of all of the students in the school in the basket and that they randomly drew 36 names out of this basket. Of the prize winners, 6 were freshmen, 14 were sophomores, 9 were juniors, and 7 were seniors. The results do not seem that random to you. You think it is a little fishy that sophomores organized the raffle and also won the most prizes. Your school is composed of 30% freshmen, 25% sophomores, 25% juniors, and 20% seniors.

  1. What are the expected frequencies of winners from each class?

  1. Conduct a significance test to determine whether the winners of the prizes were distributed throughout the classes as would be expected based on the percentage of students in each group. Report your Chi Square and p values.

  1. What do you conclude?

  1. 14. A geologist collects hand-specimen sized pieces of limestone from a particular area. A qualitative assessment of both texture and color is made with the following results. Is there evidence of association between color and texture for these limestones? Explain your answer.

11.1 Facts About the Chi-Square Distribution

Decide whether the following statements are true or false.

  1. The standard deviation of the chi-square distribution is twice the mean.

11.4 Test for Homogeneity

For each word problem, use a solution sheet to solve the hypothesis test problem. Go to Appendix E for the chi-square solution sheet. Round expected frequency to two decimal places.

  1. Do men and women select different breakfasts? The breakfasts ordered by randomly selected men and women at a popular breakfast place is shown in Table 11.55. Conduct a test for homogeneity at a 5% level of significance.

Use the following information to answer the next twelve exercises: Suppose an airline claims that its flights are consistently on time with an average delay of at most 15 minutes. It claims that the average delay is so consistent that the variance is no more than 150 minutes. Doubting the consistency part of the claim, a disgruntled traveler calculates the delays for his next 25 flights. The average delay for those 25 flights is 22 minutes with a standard deviation of 15 minutes.

12.3 The Regression Equation

  1. Can a coefficient of determination be negative? Why or why not?

Use the following information to answer the next two exercises. The cost of a leading liquid laundry detergent in different sizes is given in Table 12.31.

Size (ounces) Cost ($) Cost Per ounce
16 3.99
32 4.99
64 5.99
200 10.99

  1. Does it appear from inspection that there is a relationship between the variables? Why or why not?

  1. Calculate the least-squares line. Put the equation in the form of: ŷ = a + bx

  1. Find the correlation coefficient. Is it significant?

  1. If the laundry detergent were sold in a 40-ounce size, find the estimated cost.

  1. If the laundry detergent were sold in a 90-ounce size, find the estimated cost.

  1. Does it appear that a line is the best way to fit the data? Why or why not?

  1. Are there any outliers in the given data?

  1. Is the least-squares line valid for predicting what a 300-ounce size of the laundry detergent would you cost? Why or why not?

  1. What is the slope of the least-squares (best-fit) line? Interpret the slope.

Identify a style or movement the work is associated with.

Please read these directions and the “Art 100 Museum Paper Grading Rubric” (attached above) before visiting your museum of choice.

  • Attached Visual Record: 5 points

Take a photo in front of the museum’s sign or other identifying marker; a scanned copy of a brochure, postcard front and back, or a ticket stub from the museum will also earn full credit.

  • Format/Style: 10 points

Paper must be typed, double spaced, at least 3-4 pages in length, include a heading with name, date submitted and the course name and number (Intro to Art/ART 100).

  • Grammar, spelling and sentence structure must be checked and not impede comprehension.

Titles of art works must be italicized or underlined (not in quotation marks!).

Sources must be cited properly, if used.

Content/body:

  • Introduction: 10 points
  • Include name of museum and date of visit.
  • Identify a commonality or theme between the works (this could be a similar medium, subject matter, art period/movement, color or other formal element, etc.).
  • THREE WORKS: 90 points (30 points per work-complete these steps for EACH work you include in your paper):
  • Identify artist, title (in italics!), date of work and medium.
  • Describe the content and/or subject matter (describe what you see when you look at the work).

( For example: ” Agnolo Bronzino’s Eleanor of Toledo from 1544 is an oil on wood portrait of a mother seated with her young son standing on her right side. The mother is wearing an elaborate dress with black and gold details. The child has blond hair and is wearing a dark blue jacket and is smiling slightly.)

  • Identify a style or movement the work is associated with;  use your Preble’s textbook to place the work in its style category. Explain how it fits into this particular art movement.

( For example: ” Eleanor of Toledo was completed during the beginning of the Mannerist art movement, which took place in Italy beginning in the 1520s. This painting is characteristically Mannerist because the figures in the painting have exaggerated and elongated proportions-especially fingers-and are painted with rich colors used to imply texture.”)

  • Identify 2-3 formal elements (define each formal element using your textbook; identify each formal element in the art work).

( For example: “The dress depicted in Bronzino’s Eleanor of Toledo demonstrates the artist’s use of texture. Texture is the perceived surface quality of an object. In the painting the fabric of the mother’s dress appears to be silk with velvet details and shiny pearl and gold beads…”)

  • Conclusion: 15 points
  • Give your personal reaction to the three works you chose (what you liked/did not like).
  • Describe how this assignment expanded your appreciation of art.
