Art Creation and Analysis Your task is to create a piece of art that reflects a text that has some meaning to you. The art can be in any form you can imagine. You can paint, draw, sing, perform a dance, take a photo, make pottery, make a collage with magazine pictures, create a meal, or whatever you can think of. You can use any text that is important to you. It can be a religious text, but it does not have to be. You could use a poem, a song, a newspaper story, a letter from an old friend, or anything else that has some value to you.  You do not have to be an artist to do this assignment and you do not have to be an expert in symbolism. The point of this assignment is to see the connection between art and religion by creating your own art and your own symbolism. By participation in the analysis of a text based on your beliefs of what it means and creating a work of art based on those beliefs, you might better be able to analyze works of art and their connection to religion. Take into consideration every element that might affect how you interpret the piece of text for your art. What is your cultural lens through which you are reading the text? Who is the author of the text? What is the author’s culture? Who was the intended audience of the text and what is their culture like? What is the purpose of the format of the text (Scripture, poem, story, etc.)? What is the grammar and sentence structure like? These are all elements to consider as you analyze your chosen text. Follow each step in the list below.1. Choose a text to analyze. (It can be as small as one or two sentences from a piece of work. You do not need to choose an entire piece of work, as that would be too much to contain in one piece of art.)2. Read the text several times and write a short summary of what it means to you. This can be just a list or words. Consider this to be a brainstorming activity.3. Decide what form of art you think would best convey the meaning the text has for you. Ask your professor if you have any questions about whether or not what you want to create would be considered art for the purposes of this assignment.4. Create the piece of art. (Try to make it something fairly simple that will not take up too much time using whatever supplies you might have around the house.)5. Write an essay, at least 450 words in length, explaining the choices you made with your art and how each choice reflects the text you chose. Be sure to consider the list of exegetical questions provided in the paragraph above.6. Submit your essay. As we are in an online setting, you will need to take a digital picture of your art and include it with the essay document. Only one document can be submitted. If you have created something on the computer, you can copy and paste that into the essay document. If you have created something on the internet, such as a YouTube video, you can provide the link in the essay document. Be sure to contact your professor via email if you have any issues with submission.  

  Although some states and cities have passed laws to ban texting and using handheld phones while driving, there is no current law to ban all cell phone use while driving. However, according to the National Safety Council (2009), 28 percent of all crashes—1.6 million per year—are caused by cell phone use and texting by drivers. Your answer to 2b should have some connection to your answer to 2a.  3.a) Consider the Japanese Album Leaf calligraphy shown in the textbook and in class; how is it typically Japanese in character, and how does Japanese calligraphy relate to Chinese calligraphy? Compare the two in their most distinctive forms (the most Japanese and the most Chinese calligraphy) and relate them to the two most important themes we outlined for the two cultures. b) Can you find (and explain) a link to the Bamboo Cutter story in this work, or in any of the Japanese design we looked at? Change the border to be a night color, add a background image (that reflects a nightly theme – maybe ghosts or stars or a moonlit sky), add some padding so the background image will show up, and change the paragraph’s font color to be appropriate to the background image (meaning, change the color to be something readable). If the user picks Day, change the paragraph to reflect a Day theme, with a bright background image (maybe a grassy field or flowers or a sunny sky), change the border to be something that complements the day theme, add some padding, and change the font color.

Health services continue to affect the gross domestic product, and this dramatic transformation has great demands on each dollar spent to deliver patient-centered products. Health care marketing must be repeatedly applied and practiced strategically to include environmental dimensions, such as technology, socioeconomics, competition, and regulatory. That being said, in today’s global economy, investors and potential entrepreneurs must tap into the so-called “unexplored” market. In this aspect, health care establishments must utilize marketing, advertising, as well as sales strategies when pursuing new customers (e.g., suppose a health care investor wanted to build a small hospital in a rural community); this would entail exploration and logistical experimentation to determine who will patronize the facility. In an impoverished neighborhood, the feasibility of having lucrative profits may see diminishing returns, and so the venture may be not worth the effort. Also, suppose that the potential investor wants to sell mosquito deterrents (e.g., bedside netting in malaria-infested regions of Asia or Africa); then it would be wise to investigate the number of beds that are actually in the village, and who would be willing to purchase them. This assignment is designed to integrate the reflection of personal experience, and the information covered in the textbook. Using what you have learned about Juanita, answer the following questions: Reading Assignments  Juanita’s world Part 6When Juanita visited with Melissa, the previous HR manager, she felt Melissa was a bit evasive on issues like hiring, firing, and retaining employees and volunteers. It is Day 6 since her hire start date and already she has received two notices of resignation from key personnel. She was hoping that she could analyze the situation before trying to implement solutions. But, Rich, her boss, is applying a lot of pressure because his boss seems to be applying pressure on him. Although she did not know the two people very well, she did conduct exit interviews. Much of what she was told fit with what she sensed about training and development, compensation, recognition, and career development. Both individuals seemed genuinely committed to the mission of the organization, but expressed frustration with people they work with due to their incompetence and also with the organization, due to its unwillingness to invest in its employees. As Juanita considers a short-term strategy she considers that it may be best in the short-term to voluntarily separate individuals who are unwilling to perform and replace them with new hires who exhibit an interest in development. As she considers the implications she is certain she will get significant “push back” from Rich and other more tenured managers.
