What assumptions and goals characterized progressivism as a philosophy, and how did it influence American society and politics domestically and internationally? How did progressive reformers confront the social, political, economic, and moral problems of their age, and to what extent were they successful?

Define the concepts of social justice and social control, and explain how both trends functioned in the Progressive Era. Identify the core issues within these trends, including the settlement house movement, women’s suffrage, support for immigrants and labor, prohibition, segregation and desegregation, education reform, and antivice activism.

Designing instructional activities online is not what it once was – new tools have enabled multisensory and dynamic learning experiences to occur if effective strategies and resources are aligned well.  It is also important to note learning is not always done in isolation, or at least it should not be.

Learning is a social construct that requires collaboration and connections to both the real world and people interacting in that world. For example, Ubell, in his article Dewey Goes Online suggests that progressives, such as Dewey and others, believed in the power of experiential learning – learning by doing – coupled with problem solving and critical thinking supported by tools for communication and collaborative teamwork.

New course delivery models will be smart to develop collaborative opportunities for students to learn that require problem solving and critical thinking. Read the article Dewey Goes Online and answer the critical thinking questions below. Respond to at least two of your classmates’ postings.

Design a database schema for the proposed Database Design Proposal in Module 1.

Identify and list all relevant entities and their relationships:

1) Select no less than five entities.

2) Provide a diagram.

3) Map this to a database schema.

Research Paper for IT304 “Describe and Prescribe Development Needs (IT Related) for Your Assigned Country” Your task is to become an expert on the geography, history, people, government, economy, and development needs of your assigned country. You are writing a report to development agencies in order to interest them in a development project in the country in question. Begin by reading background information about your assigned country in the CIA World Factbook (Google cia factbook). From that basic information start filling in the outline of your paper. Go to the Infoguides on the GMU library page (infoguides.gmu.edu), select Information Technology and Engineering, select the infoguide for IT304. This should guide you in how start your search for information. You will notice that I did not assign you a global power with a thriving economy, but rather a country with a struggling economy. Research your country’s historic and current state of development in the following sectors: power generation and distribution, transportation, healthcare, agriculture, finance, and communication. Identify one of these “Commanding Heights” and design a plan to put your country on the fast track to development in this sector. Since development economists have probably been operating in your assigned country for some time, investigate the development projects that are currently in progress in your assigned country.
